Wow!!! What an incredible experience at Pebble Beach. Chris traveled down with the Gonzales family and got to witness the other side of the TOUR life – missing clubs & carseats, changing diapers on the side of the road, random stop at In N Out – finally getting to the destination!
He observed Michael & Andrew Putnam as they played in the Pebble Beach Invitational on Saturday and Sunday – also got in some range time with Dre before the Super Bowl – what a fabulous performance by Lady Gaga – loved how she took on current events and expressed her desire for everyone to be an individual and love one another.
Monday – Wednesday were filled with practice rounds and getting in some good work on the range and shortgame areas at all 3 facilities – Pebble, MPCC and Spyglass Hill. The weather got a little goofy on Tuesday, golf shop staff was telling people to stay off the course – some went to the aquarium and enjoyed being dry!
The event began on Thursday and Michael was at Spyglass Hill and Dre was at MPCC. Weather got a little interesting late in the day and play was suspended. Chris saw lots of great things from both of his players. Friday the boys resumed play and then the fog rolled in – play suspended again… I arrived in SFO at 1:30 and began my trek to 17 mile drive. I arrived just in time to meet Jimmy Walker at the wine shop in Carmel Plaza. The owners Kent and Lisa were amazing and we enjoyed some very tasty wine! Nancy and Robert were kind enough to let us stay with them during their event. We thoroughly enjoyed their beautiful home in Carmel, especially the outdoor shower:)
Saturday was going to be a long day – Dre was in the middle of #1 fairway at Spyglass to finish his 2nd round and then off to Pebble for Round 3. The bus left at 5:45 a.m. and I got to experience the driving range for a PGA Tour event!!! So fun to be close to all these amazing players and celebrities – I had the privilege of standing on the driving range between Justin Rose and Justin Timberlake, walked right by Aaron Rodgers, rode in a shuttle with Alfonso Ribero… Dre was paired with Gary Mule Deer, his regular partner for the Pro Am and Ray Otis, head professional at CordeValle was paired with Larry the Cable Guy. The morning was very quiet following this foursome around the course and then it got crazy… The afternoon round began at #1 on Pebble and we couldn’t even get anywhere near the 1st tee. The sun was shining and it was just a stunning day at Pebble. The line for the bathrooms was over 30 minutes and all you could here was Git R Done… How these professionals are able to block out all the chaos is beyond me, but it was truly impressive to watch.
Dre made the cut on the number and Michael’s team made the cut, so both were playing Pebble again on a gorgeous Sunday! Dre had a bogey free 68 on Sunday and Michael made enough birdies to help his team finish 10th! The overall experience of seeing Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Payton Manning, Bill Murray, JB Holmes, and many other tour players and celebrities was amazing! Everyone we got to meet was super nice and the experience was unforgettable!
