Britney’s Christmas gift was a trip to a golf tournament – she could pick anyone she wanted… for those of you that know Brit and/or for those of you that have experienced the Waste Management Phoenix Open – they don’t quite go together! We did our best to prepare her for the worst and didn’t expect her to have a good time, but here is proof that she LOVED it!!! At the last minute we included Chris and his brother Brian, they didn’t want to miss out on the craziness.

Our trip began bright and early on Thursday morning, leaving out of Sea-Tac at 5:30 a.m. Brian flew in from Houston that morning and picked us up at the airport. After a quick stop at In N Out, we were on property by 12 noon and watched Kyle finish his round. Britney wanted to watch her boys (Jordan and Justin) who were paired together with Patton Kizzire in the afternoon. (Desire with a K, in case you don’t know how to pronounce his last name, Malbs!!!) We found them on the 9th tee and politely waited for a couple of groups to go through before they got there. Brit’s only bad experience was trying to get up to the ropes for a closer view of her boys. It’s just genetics, Brit! “I loved getting to see my boys ❤ even if that one guy was a jerk 🙄”. After golf we headed to The Malby’s house for dinner! Always great to catch up with dear friends! We were all happy to hit the pillow that night after a really long day.

Friday began bright and early, we ran into so many people from the PNW. Everyone was down there enjoying the warm sunshine! Malby joined us that morning to watch Jordan and Justin play their back 9. We had a blast finding great viewing points and of course a beer garden with free tastings! While we were walking to go watch Kyle tee off, we were abruptly stopped at a crossing path. Little did we know Chris and Kyle were walking from the practice range to the 1st tee! Just another example of God’s perfect timing! Once Kyle turned to the back nine we headed to #16! The line wasn’t that long and as Brit says… “16 was amazing! Just hearing all the roars and booing—it’s unlike golf and an experience I’ll never forget. Basically a big party like everyone says! Ha. And so weird to have a whole hole of golf closed off in a stadium.” We had fun participating in the fraternity party and were bummed to hear we missed Ian Poulter shank it… We were part of the 191k people that day, but it didn’t feel that bad. Thanks to Monica, Brit and I were spoiled with an experience at the Dry Bar, it was so fun and we felt like princesses!

Our last day in Phoenix did not disappoint. Thanks to Steve Turcotte we had a media parking pass so we didn’t have to deal with the parking shuttles and the 216,818 people.  Chris, Brit and I headed to the madness on Saturday morning and hung out by #17 green for a bit before wandering through the maze of people behind #10 and #16 green! We made it to the 9th green just in time for Britney to high 5 Justin Thomas as he was making the turn after shooting 30 on the front! It was fantastic people watching and the weather was perfect! We spent the afternoon in Old Town Scottsdale with Brian checking out some different restaurants and enjoying each others company before we all headed back home!

Britney had a wonderful time traveling with us to Phoenix and enjoyed the greenest show on grass! It was fun to have her join us, instead of leaving her home to take care of the puppies and our house! We are grateful for Lara for helping us out this time!  Brit coined the phrase #griffingolftravels – we will have to keep that one going!
